Basically the transmission pilot bearing is located in the flywheel on these cars. On the one I pulled apart the bearing was crushed.
It was not aligned properly when the trans was mated to the engine. I sent photos to a lead engineer with my findings. He acted like he knew of the issue but wouldn't admit anything.
It sounded a lot like a bad throw out bearing would. Car only had 500 miles on it.
I would have to search for the photos if you want them.

Tranny noise

I have been on the Technical side of the car business for over 40 years (as Field Engineer for Major Car company). Every time you have a performance car with a performance transmission you get the same complaints. Gear noise, whine, "sounds like straight cut gears" etc. Well the gear sets in these transmissions are made to be strong, not quiet. Drive a German car with a Gitrag gearbox, hard to hear engine over gear noise, its horrible, but normal.

I think the engineers at Ford are in a pickle over this due to the transmission being supplied by an outside vender (Tremec) and they have little if no control over this issue. Good luck!

Hey guys with the transmission buzz/rattle in 2nd gear check this out...it's a know issue that the shifter spring (under the boot) rattles/buzzes against the shift lever since its not isolated. Check out the vid below...Auto Fanatic did a great job finding fixing it, simple process really:

thx for link

Has anyone tested it ?

Duratec, not personally, but per the vid several folks have already done it. I'll be doing this once my car arrives (if it makes the 2nd gear vibration noise) and will report back. I suspect it will be the same though unless Ford has addressed as mine is a late 2017 build.
