What kind of oil will you use?

Want to get the forums' thoughts on oil. Will you switch to Mobil1 syn after the first oil change or will you replace it with JGR oil?

I've been using Mobil 1 and will stick with that.
When do you plan to do your first oil change ? I am old school and was thinking I would do it at 500 miles. These days I am thinking that may not be advisable, especially if synthetic is loaded at the factory. My car has just been delivered to a dealer 1500 miles away so changing the oil on the way home, especially after 500 miles, will not be particularly convenient. Also, how often are you planning to do routine changes after the initial ?
i asked ford perf. the same question. the gent on the phone said if it were HIS car he'd do the break-in to the 500 mile mark and then change the oil...that's what i'm doing....and then every 3K....i may stretch it to 4K, look at the oil and may go to 5K
That sounds like a good plan; I have always used M1 in my Gen 2 Lightning and changed at 4k after break-in, never had to add between changes (did have a catch-can that I drained back into the engine periodically). Sadly, sold the truck to help fund the GT350. Like your idea about getting the oil analysed to help decide change interval. I would think that with 10 qts, 5k would be reasonable.
yeah 10 qts is a lot...especially since it's not oil cooled....i understand the oil cooler and lines and all that, too...i believe my 911 holds 9....
I've been using Mobil1 synthetic for years. I'll find out what is in mine and either stick with that or goto Mobile1.
5-50! couldn't believe it! thought it would be a 0-40...but no
5-50 is a pretty big spread ! Always thought the closer (eg, 20-50), the better. And 5-50 is not exactly common in the usual auto stores. Do not thibk I have ever seen M1 in 5-50.
That's what ford perf. said...that's factory pour..Motorcraft syn. It's been a couple of weeks since I asked that, so; if I'm wrong I'll let the forum know...pretty sure though...I'll call ford perf. tomorrow
Well, I picked up my car earlier in the week in MO, drove it to AZ. It now has about 1500 miles on it. Oil monitor says it has 92% life remaining. I will get it changed this week but after reading the manual, not sure it is not a waste. These are hand built engines; if they take the time to do that, you'd think they would clean out any machining debris.

i'd change it at 500...that's what ford perf recommended...who gives an obama about the oil that's in it, anyway .....it'll cost $100 bucks...change it and then do the intervals

Another forum has post/pic from guy who cut open oil filter after 500 miles- all sorts of stuff found, lock tight bits, flashes,,,,,I'm doing my first at 500 and then at 1500 and will see from there. Will use whatever Ford recommends.
MAKE SURE the dealer has an oil filter be fore you take it in

Ford recommends 5W50 full synthetic. Manual says to change between 3K and 10K depending on how you drive. I will change mine first at 500 miles. Then I monitor the oil based on driving. When it starts darkening, I change it.
