Things You Might Not Know About Your Car

It has been sugested that we start a thread that compiles all the little things you may not know about your new car so I'm doing so.
Some of these subjects have already been covered in other threads, but it will be nice to have them lumped in this 1 thread, and I'm sure we'll have new topics added.
So please contribute.
Here was one of mine from another thread:

Gas Funnel:

Did you know that if you want to add gas to your car via a fuel can or siphon hose you can not uless you use your car's supplied funnel?
Our car has an anti-siphon housing which won't let anything through other than a gas nozel or our car's funnel.

the funnel is located in your truck just to the left of your tire inflator

Start Up Exhaust Sound

You know when you first start the car up cold there is an explosion, all 4 exhaust valves open, then it closes 2 going into normal mode... well GT_Dave explains this in my other thread:

When the car is cold and off, the valves for the inside pipes are 2/3 open, when you push in the clutch the valves will cycle closed , opened, closed and they do this 2 times which takes about 3+ seconds. If you want to start the car cold in "quiet" mode, hold the clutch in and count to 4 or 5 then hit the start button.
If you just push in the clutch and hit the start button, you will start in the middle of that cycle and you get the loud start.
When the car is warm, I'm not sure of the temps involved, the valves are shut and will not cycle when you go to start.
— there’s a button just above the license plate to open the trunk (I didn’t know that one until one of these type threads)

— the small secret compartment inside the roof of the glove box

— the small secret compartment to the left of the steering wheel

— if you have your AC controls in auto, manually select a compartment you prefer more than what the auto controller selected for you. Don’t touch the fan speed and the fan will remain in its own auto mode based solely off of temperature selection.

Those are the big ones I was excited to learn about.

This is so obvious you guys are probably going to ban me from the forum...but...when accessing the rear seat(s), use the lever on the back of the front seat to tilt it forward, that way it will retain the same position when you raise it back up (using the rear handle). If you use the side handle to tilt seat forward you'll have to find your perfect position again once you raise the seat back into upright position.

By the way, nice thread Racer172!

Great idea - I may have to try that.
Hotlap not sure I understand this. I have the leather seats and I have a lever on the side of the upper seat back but don't see one on the back of the front seat. To get in the back I have to power the seat with the button below sitting seat forward all the way then pull the side lever on the upper seat back and it will go forward then once in back seat power seat back to where I thought it was and pull lever on side of upper seat back and keep moving forward and back seat till where I think it should be.

that feature is reserved for the Recaro racing seats.
you luxury drivers aren't worthy of that lever :(
I'm just kidding of course :D

Thanks for the info I looked every where for a lever on the back ha ha

My leather seats have the seatback release lever on the back below the headrest. Maybe a change for 2018? I was afraid i wasn't worthy so I had to run out to the garage and check. ;-) I knew about most of the interior stuff from exploring my '15 GT. The little drawer that slides out from the dash to the left of the steering wheel is supposed to be a glasses holder and next to it is the trunk release button. Good thread racer172.

My head is still spinning from trying to read that, hahahahahahha.

I never knew just how insignificant power seats were until getting this car. Don’t miss that feature not in the slightest bit. All it made me realize is how once I get a seat in a position, I never touch it again. I’ve found a more solid comfort position with this manual seat than I ever did with anything power. And guess what? Now I don’t bump buttons and lose my best spot anymore either.

Well I'll be 73 tomorrow. Theres a new 2017 Shelby right now sitting on the dealership floor with Recaro seats. When I sit down in that thing its like I sit on a hard brick and sits to low and to narrow. I'll keep my leather (convenience pkg.) seats that I can easily adjust with the touch of a button to any comfortable position. And keep my butt warm or cool as I want. Seeing as if ever my back seat is even used the memory on the Recaros doesn't come any where near the pleasure I get from the leather seats for me. Don't track or plan to track car so don't need those hard *#^ Recaros for that either.

Happy to see that Ford has <apparently> adjusted the mix between convenience and electronics package builds so everyone can get what they want. One of the best features my 2016 KR has is the electronically adjustable tilt/telescoping steering wheel, pedals, mirrors and seats...all tied into the memory function so it recognizes my key and everything moves to my perfect position (most of the time anyways). Seats are cooled/heated and even have massage (I didn't even know that until I got it home and said what's this button for, nice surprise). While I was originally looking for a 2017 convenience package (they just weren't available at the time) I truly like the Recaros as they fit me perfectly - one of the lucky ones I guess ;)

My main concern with the faux suede is long-term wear. holding up OK so far but driver's seat beginning to look a bit "tired"...

By the way Happy Birthday Johnny1!! 70 is the new 50!! Last year to celebrate my 59th Birthday I rode 59 miles on my road bike...
