Recent Mod...New Shift Knob

Hey all, just changed out my shifter knob for the one pictured below. Got it at CJ Pony Parts and it looks much better in person (looks "cloudy" in pic, but not at all very clear in person). I really like the round shift knob, just feels "right"! Their supplier makes them in a variety of diff colors (pretty much whatever you want) so I went with the theme of my Shelby Black n' Blue. Wait time was 10 weeks...

10 weeks?? Uugggg. I ordered mine (same thing but in white) on 28 Dec. they advertise 4 weeks, WTF? I emailed last night for an update. 10 weeks is ridiculous.
So I got an update that they’re getting an order in next week (mines in there) and then they’ll ship it out. That’s gonna put me at 6+. I wrote them back today and recommended they change their “4 week” advertisement on these.

I went with the car matching colors too (white w/blue stripes), but wondering if I should have gone solid red to match the start button!

Why is it that anything cool for our cars is on a slow order? 10 weeks on a knob? color is great though.

I’d guess not a lot of movement on Shelby specific parts.

I think your right about that, plus with so many different color combos available for this particular shift knob, it would be very hard and costly to try and keep them in stock. Took a long time though and they do need to update their estimated ship dates!! Just back from a drive and I really, like the feel of this knob, took about 5 minutes to get used to it...

I was wondering that as well, with my new DCTMS steering wheel coming with the red steering locator stripe, it would likely have all tied in...however, now that I've been told me and 10 others from the group buy aren't going to be getting our wheels for awhile now that they have decided to change suppliers, I'll believe it when I see it...

And the name adds an additional 20% to its cost too.

Speaking of which...as you know, that shift knob is ~$80 something. Well, I had been flipping back and fourth to the site over several weeks debating color/design. Was in there one random day (28 Dec) and that sucker showed up as $60!!! No sale advertised or anything. I put it in my cart and bought it and nothing goofy happened. Got mine for $60 straight off the site like anyone else. I checked back and that price was gone the next day. Wonder if that’s something CJ does on a whim?

Hey sometimes the bear gets you and sometimes you get the bear!! Good job, as I did pay the $80 for mine. I really like it so much better feel than the stock knob (which I saved in case I ever sell this car). Do yourself a fav and get a strap wrench for the removal of stock knob...that sucker is on there TIGHT!! I used a giant pair of channel lock pliers, duct taped the jaws and used a thick micro fiber towel and it was much harder than it needed to be. Needless to say, I now have a set of strap wrenches!!

Also a great time to do the 2nd gear shifter rattle/buzz mod as shown by Auto Fanatics on YouTube...I've posted it in this form as well!!
So mine finally shipped today. Four weeks...yea, right :-/

I already have my stock knob loose and ready to come off. Did the three piece alcantara kit and had to get the knob off for that. I've never heard of the 2nd gear issue, and I don't think I have that issue, but I'll check it out.

I recently had my entire console out to Dynamat the tunnel sides, around the shifter base, and anywhere else I could get at. Really quieted things down as I had developed a nasty buzzing/razzing noise under there. Reminded me of my 2005 GT that had the parking brake lever rattle. I addressed that area as well too :) Post when you get it installed!!

Meh. Meh. What do you guys think? I like it from outside when you can see all the white and blue, then it makes sense. Inside the car, it stands out too much. The interior is too refined to have this bright ass white knob there. Everything else goes together...except the knob. I think I’d prefer a plan Red one to match the starter button. But for now...just meh. I’ll give it a chance though. I thought the old school white knob would be instantly cool, but...meh.

Thanks for posting these interior photos. I just ordered the same exact shift knob for our new GT350 - to match the exterior colour. It just shipped out two days ago. Was thinking of going just plain black with the snake on the side, but changed my mind at the last minute.
Update...so based on my original comments/photo's, I took that one back off. Gave it a few days, but was not happy with it. One other thing I didn't like that I didn't mention originally was the size. That thing was big. If you got some big bear claws it may be OK, but it was too big for me. I swapped it out for the solid red Ford knob. Mucho mucho better. It's a smaller, more traditional size and the red matches very nicely with the red starter button sitting right there beside it. More subtle and flows better with the interior. Oh well.
Galaxy just seeing this... but I like it! What matters though is that you are happy with the final result. Post a pic of the Ford red shift handle, I'm assuming it's a ball not the stock unit? I really like the size of the ball, but glove size is a large so that's likely why.
I ordered a red w/ white lettering. Nonstripes. Should be here this week along with some floor mats and a few other goodies hehe
Here is mine. Not Ruby Red, but it looks good!

Nice DTorres31, looks great and I really am really liking mine, perfect size and just feels so much better than the stock unit! Would be hard to go back now for sure!! I also think the larger, round shift knob gives it a "bad ass" muscle car look when you look into the interior and your eyes are immediately drawn to the shift knob (like the muscle cars of old)!

Hey madlag, late I know, but welcome to the forum and please post pics when you get yours installed. Do yourself a favor and pick up a strap wrench as the OEM knob is on pretty tight!
