Was wondering what everyones opinion was on oil catch cans? Do you need them and if so On passenger side of engine or drivers side of engine or both?

I watched a You Tube video on how to install the catch can. It looked like even a moron could do it. I'm a moron. Can I do it? It didn't look that difficult. After reading these posts, I'm convinced I need one.

Lol we all need one.
Easy Peezzy
I had more trouble getting the driver side FP separator in than I did the passenger side. After I threatened its very existence a couple of times it settled in just fine. Just a matter of juggling all the parts into position.

HAHA, I have threatened parts too. Then walked away and came back and it ll seems to work.

My only question is, if I install the Ford Performance catch cans, will this adhere to warranty or void it? I am unsure as I am willing to remove them and restore the stock hoses for inspection and maintenance. What say you?

It's a Ford Performance part so no impact on the warranty and no need to remove them when you take the car in for service. I have a JLT separator (passenger side only) on my '15 GT and no problem with the warranty even for the third party can.

Mine (driver/passenger sides) were installed by my dealer, part of the purchase price.
The high rev of the voodo along with high compression almost make it almost a necessity to install cans imho. I slapped JLT’s on both sides of mine for ease of matinance as well as easy install. Pass side collects with normal street driving, driver’s side gets a bit under spirited driving. I’m happy to see it in the can rather then tarring up in the intake and causing issues down the road.
Ok so what if my car already has 9k miles and no catch can?? Is my engine screwed or what? This is like putting a band aid on a 2 year old scar at this point right? IF THERE IS SLUDGE BUILT UP FROM THE 1st 9k miles how do I get it out??
The one for the Whipple even has a nigh pressure check valve to manage the increased pressure under boost plus a huge satin canister with a drain valve - the other ones you can just blow through the tube - the downside - Whipple $349

I don't think there's some point of no return with these separators. Obviously your motor would have been better off with one (or two if you track) installed right away. The sooner you install one, the sooner you can stop burning oil through your intake system.

Personally, I would order one immediately and get it in place right away. Why add any more oil to your intake valves? Then when nice weather comes around you will be ready to go.

I drained mine on Saturday - 3500 miles on the car and 2000 miles since the first oil change - this was the second time I emptied it but the first time I measured it:

OK...add it asap...got it... You know what my wife hears when she is told the $60k mustang needs another >$100 part, that should have come with it, to protect the engine from a problem that should have been sorted from the factory?? What other car requires this constant spending to keep it from exploding? $140 oil change, $80 air filter, $400 tires (each!) ohhp don't forget premium only which is >$4.50 a gallon here in sunny California, yayyy!!!I do love getting jammed between prius's and stuck behind bro trucks with no mud flaps kicking up rocks...
update: I installed the FP part today. Easy. No more guilt.

I put catch cans on my 2007 GT, and 2010 GT500, and I haven’t taken delivery of my GT350 yet (return to the US next week to pick it up), but I’ve already ordered both sides of the FP.
Watched a lot of vids on YouTube, and decided I personally prefer the OEM look, AND the capacity of the cans is significantly larger than the others, adding an extra safety layer.
With a car this special, I can’t imaging not doing this mod. However, I must admit I’d forgotten all about this mod after not owning a car for 4 years while living in Africa:

while I agree with you that oil separator should be installed by factory of car manufacturers.
but then why did you buy this car in the first place? did you consider tesla or prius? or ride bicycle in sunny california - no gas needed.

UPR kit installed on both sides. Very happy with fit.

The driver side of UPR oil separator doesn't catch the oil. It's only for the clean air going into the air intake.

Why did I buy this car in the first place? I had a 2005 z51 corvette that I sold to pay student loans. Then when I graduated and got a good career going I plotted to buy a grand sport or z06 c7. When I told my dad what I was thinking he told me to check out the gt350's. I did and was sold.
My first car was a v6 97 mustang so we're going full circle here. More room for passengers, less electronic problems and cheaper to work on. With the corvette everything had to be disassembled and taken apart to get at the engine. Once I needed a new harmonic balancer, had to take it to a specialty shop where they dropped the entire suspension/steering apparatus out to get it done. Ridiculous. So a car that has the engine on top of all that instead of nested in between it all is easier to maintain, was the idea.
No this doesn't have a fiberglass body or a heads up display, it isn't any quicker (0-60 is 4.2 for both an 05' z51 and a 17' gt350..) and it doesn't handle any BETTER, but it doesn't do anything the corvette did any WORSE which is damn impressive for a 3800 lb car, and it has a hell of a lot more attitude. The corvette was a panther, this thing is a damn RHINO.
