Was wondering what everyones opinion was on oil catch cans? Do you need them and if so On passenger side of engine or drivers side of engine or both?

Filter Screen?

So just rolled 1,000m and did my first oil change and now just checking the catch cans, driver's side bone dry and passenger's side had a small pool of oil.
When I took the top half off I was surprised to find a screen/filter.
Do you guys use this or remove it?

Don’t do anything to a catch can but pour the oil out of it. That screen is what separates the oil suspended in the air as it flows through.

I'm surprised at how much liquid he had on the driver's side. My understanding was that unless you track the car a lot, the driver's side isn't going to see much of anything.

Yeah, I was kind of shocked at that too. It had me rethinking putting one on the driver's side too. In the video it looked like he had more on the driver's side than on the passenger side.

I also was surprised with that part of his video. I installed both sides because I do plan to track my car. As I mentioned above after the fist 1,000 miles the driver's side on my car was bone dry. But I like that it is there.

This is a no brainer. Install them. Easy to do, easy to service.

I kinda follow this guy on youtube and he runs it pretty hard.

Yep, I think I'll go ahead and add the driver's side can. Can't hurt and could help.

I changed my oil at 1000 mi and checked the FP separators this morning, about 1100 mi now. The driver side was bone dry, but the passenger side had about 1/4 inch of a nasty blend the I am glad did not recirculate into the engine. Installed them the day I drove the car home from the dealer.
I recently purchased both driver/passenger side cans, but only installed passenger. My concern is making an already hard task of checking oil levels that much more difficult.

For those of you who have the driver side installed, can you share your dipstick removal/check/insertion method. Not much room behind the shock tower brace and with a hot engine...I really dont want to burn my hand.

Looking forward to learning from you. Thanks!
I just ordered the complete UPR catch can system after reading reviews. I’ll let everyone know how it goes and get some pics posted.

I just check my oil when the car is cold. I just come in from the firewall side of the brace and pull it out. It's not a problem, not sure why folks are struggling with it?

Mine was a bit challenging at first but you’ll get the hang of it pretty quick. Just use a glove on your right hand and you’ll be fine
I hold a flash light in my right hand and come in from behind the strut tower brace to light the area, then grab the dipstick with my left hand, replace the light with a paper towel and pull. When putting it back in the flashlight in the same position lights up the hole. It's a pretty big target. Yes its a little warm in there but not too bad. Manual says to check at normal operating temp, 15 minutes after shutdown.
I switched the Ford strut tower brace for an SR Performance brace in my '15 GT because I hated banging my knuckles every time I checked the oil. Now I can easily reach between the brace rails to get to the dipstick. Thinking about going to a tubular brace for the GT350, especially now that I've installed the FP driver side oil separator.

UPR kit installed on both sides. Very happy with fit.

Just added a FP passenger side oil separator to H3303.

Very easy except no matter how I positioned the short hose as described by the instructions it would not fit without a bad kink and tension on the separator. Ended up switching the orientation with the 90 elbow on the separator side which fit much better. Anyone else had to do it this way?
