My bad luck.

I bought my gt350 about three weeks ago. On the way home from dealer I started getting messages about charging system. I found the screen with voltage and watched it keep dropping. By the time I hit my driveway, navy screen shut off and all instruments shut off to conserve power. Before calling dealer I checked out the car myself and found that the nut was missing from the alternator. I have a pic of it I'll try and upload. The wires were burnt so I pulled a nut off up by the brake fluid that fit and recharged the battery. The next morning I drove the car back and had to leave the car there. They ordered new wires and a new alternator. Three days later I got my car back. I got a few drives in here and there the first week. Then the car sat while I was too busy with work. I finally had a couple hours off two nights ago and took her out for some head clearing time. Stopped by to show my brother in law the car and took him around the hill for a ride. I hit an open stretch so I went through 2-4th gear and boom. Revs were kept under 6500rpm but the sounds coming out of his car wanted to make me puke. Had it flat bedded to the dealer yet again.
Found out today that the Ford tech told them to just pull the oil filter and check for gold shavings. Sure enough there they were. He then directed them to order a new motor. That's when they called me and told me the news. I instructed them to get a new car that I don't want a new motor in my brand new car. So they still have to put the new motor in it, but has started the paperwork for ford to buy back and replace. Fingers are crossed because I love the car, but this one Won't stay in my garage. Oh, I managed to get 564.4 miles on it before all of this happened.

So sorry about your bad luck. If you accept a new motor it won't be numbers matching anymore and could lower the ultimate value of the car. Hold out for a new car.
Ditto and best of luck to you!! Please keep us informed of the outcome!

I really doubt that Ford cares about matching numbers they will more than likely want to replace bad part (engine) only under warranty. Hope I'm wrong

I hope your wrong too :) as I'd not want a brand new car with a replaced engine (especially of this nature)...I've just never had good luck with LFD Service doing a job of this magnitude correctly....
So far the dealer has put in paper work for the buy back and he sent a text that "it went through already and that may be a good sign". Then Friday afternoon he sent a text that read, " Jennifer from Ford will give me an update on your car Monday then I will call you". Keeping my fingers crossed. They have to put the new motor in mine anyway he said so he already ordered the new motor for it. He said it was 20k for the motor. Yikes!
Now my problem is if this goes through, do I want the same color? They have a magnetic with black stripes there in stock. I have the blue with white stripes.
That's sucks but looks like they are going to make it right for you. A lot of great colors to choose from.
Ditto, I have the blue with white stripes coming but the more I see of it the more I really like that Magnetic w/black stripes. Not a decal guy and the white stripes will be coming off but I'd be tempted to leave the black ones on as they really compliment the Magnetic and the rest of the black bits on the car!
Well the service manager called me and said "good news". I guess the buy back was approved. So from what I understand, is that Ford is sending a check to the dealership for msrp plus 6k for all the tax, tag, etc. Then I have to go down and order a 2018 and the only bad part about it is, I won't have a car until it comes in. They said they aren't being made for a few months yet? They are still putting the new motor in my old car and will re sell it at a reduced cost if I understood it correctly. They said 20k for the new motor plus 70% to pull and install the new one. Plus the reduced sale price......? might have been cheaper to crush it.
Glad to her Ford took care of you !! What color are you going to get ?

Man I'm not sure. I just got off the phone with my sales guy and I'm supposed to go down to order the car tomorrow and pick what I want. I liked the lightning blue, but not sure if I should get the white or black stripe? Or another color? Time to look at pics on line I guess. Also, what seats. Keep the racing seats or get the leather???? Wife wants leather, I liked the feel of the racing seats.
Great news. Glad Ford did the right thing.
Yeah me too. I just feel so much more relieved that it played out the way it did.
Well after sitting down with my sales guy, looking at a 350 on the lot, sitting in a premium GT to see if I liked the leather seats, and looking at my poor car on the lift I ended up with the same exact car I had. Same color, strips, seats.....

Fetzer happy to hear all is working out for you...subjective I realize, but I just removed the white stripes from my new Lightning Blue 2017. If I were a stripe guy, (IMO) the black stripes look pretty good on the LB as they pick up the other black bits on the car. While the White stripes are classic Shelby, they sort of cut up the view of the body (again, IMO). The Magentic with Black is pretty awesome too!

Good luck!
