Plenty of men and a few women your age and older are driving serious cars on track and off. Just don't tell your wife she is crazy. Maybe if she sees that the folks at HPDE's tend to be mature people she will lighten up. Fact is that I, like a lot of guys could not afford track ready machinery when we were kids or even through raising our families/college expenses, etc. and have been making up for lost time for a couple of years. Tracked my '15 991 TTS for the past two seasons and have done several other HPDE's, including the amazing basic two day and the masters two day at Barber Motor Sports Park in AL with the Porsche folks. Want a '17 GT350 and will try ASAP to order one if the dealer allocations ever open up. Probably get a street version, but possibly an R. Funny thing about the allocation situation with Ford is that I can get anything I want from my Porsche dealer and am #1 on the list for the 991.2 GT3, which I guess will be out within a couple of years. For that matter, if I wanted an ACR, no problem from Dodge. Wish Ford would get real and would tell its dealers what production runs and allocation are planned. The sales folks at Ford dealerships and their managers should save all the BS about having to talk to the regional rep or fleet manager. Ford is making a big mistake allowing ADM's. Maybe it should just up the MSRP, as the GT350 is a good deal at $5k over current MSRP, but not more. Would be nice to have a GT350, but no way will I pay a premium or just buy out of inventory, unless it is close to my specs and at a discount. Much as I want one, I can be patient and can do without. After all, I have spent most of my life without such great cars.
