How did the Original Shelby GT350 get it's Name?

Was it because it had 350hp?

A 350 cubic inch V8?

Or because Carroll Shelby had a close friend who owned a vintage WWII Mustang P51 named the "350"?

LOL, none of the above...

When debating the name for the new Shelby Mustang, Carroll Shelby asked his associate Phil Remington how many feet it was between the offices and workshop buildings and he replied 350 feet...so it was named the GT 350!!

LOL, Hotlap wins the prize!
Wow that is weird
Also weird the GT 500 got its name because it was exactly 500 pounds heavier than the GT 350.

Really, now that one I hadn't heard...had assumed it was based on flywheel hp rating!
That's not what I heard. Shelby said we need a bigger number.
Research it online and you will find several articles where it clearly states it was purely cause it ended up being exactly 500 lbs. heaver than the 350.
However they were named you gotta love the way CS went his own direction and didn't let Corporate Ford issue the name!!
