So I usually hit the canyons on my bike with my usual group of hooligans, but Sunday I decided to see how the GT350 could do with the bikes.
Had a blast!
Here are some pics that were captured.
I also have some amazing on-board video captured runnin with the sportbikes.
I want to be respectful to the forum members so I'll ask first, do you guys want to see the footage or should I leave it off?
The driving is fast and aggressive. LMK

Given that the cops just busted the kid doing 198 in the Hellcat after the fact, by him putting videos of it online for the police to see and watch.....I'd be careful about posting things that show exuberant motor activity that shows where you were and when, and any plates or tags and what you were doing....I like to watch them, but the Man is cracking down on it...

I can't decide if I want my letters to stand out. SHELBY. What product did you use? I heard some actually painted it.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could hang with the bikes, if the road is curvy enough. The bikes will rocket away on the corner exits, but you can reel them in in the corners.

Nice photos! So let's see the video. ;-) Two questions: 1) did the track attack instruction/track time help with your everyday driving? 2) have you changed out your shifter yet?

Ok enough of you are asking to see it so here it is, have your volume turned up!

ringmaster I have a lot of tracktime under my belt from my bikes, but the main things I took away from the Track Attack was information about the car & settings and what to do & not to do coming off the track for the health of the car. Another thing I took away with me was the experience of driving around the track in 3rd gear only and not shifting, oddly this aloud me to roll through the corners faster I believe. On Sunday when I was doing a lot of shifting from 3rd down to 2nd entering the turns the chassis was becoming less stable so I started just rolling through in 3rd and was much smoother & faster. Obviously given lots of time practicing in the same set of turns you would master the use of 2nd gear to your advantage. Lesson to take away with: smoother is faster.
Shifter.. NO! it's sitting my my trunk! Been soooo busy, hoping to get to it in the next couple weeks.

Had the volume turned up -- still trying to get used to that super high rpm sound! My husband had his fingers in his ears by the end of the video. LOL. I listened to your before/after changing out the resonator for the x-pipe but this video made it really obvious the difference between resonator and x-pipe. Are you running with a radar detector or spotters, or just hope? ;-) Gonna have to watch this on my big monitor. Great vid. Thanks for sharing.

yeah so I had the shotgun mic w/wind muff in the rear bumper pointed out towards the rear pipes but my digital audio recorder was not set perfectly, it got a bit of sound distortion, I'll compensate for that next time. I do have an Escort radar detector on my dash, but quite frankly when I run out there on the bikes I never stop or look back for lights, and it's been quite a few times that I've seen red lights get small in my mirrors. Not sure if I'd do that in the car, I guess it depends on where I'm at but it's much harder to disappear in the car.

Lol, yeah I was wondering about that. My luck isn't that great! I loved the video and shared it with my camaro buddy who also appreciates the car.

Out of curiosity, you said you have seen lights but they've gotten smaller. LOL, I guess they don't mind or make an effort? I would have thought they would have reached out to the heli for some support. They probably should just let you go as a chase is not worth it.

Funny you would bring up the 3rd gear thing. After a weekend on Sonoma Raceway I noticed the same thing, it’s a great 3rd gear car (40-105). The engines torque band is enormous and it’s easy to get a rhythm going on Baja Mountain roads as well as a track. Nice pics.

yeah just to be clear I have not run in the car, just on my bikes, and that has only been up in the mountains. On the bikes we carry so much speed and traffic doesn't slow down the bikes, they just keep going. And if you're going to run on a bike out there you don't need to go 100%, you only need to do 70% because the they can only do 20%. Once they lose sight to break it off. This is not something that I look for by any means and it has only happened to me a handful of times, I avoid it as much as possible, but when you are already going 200+ and you go by a sheriff you really don't want to stick around.

you mean 100+.....I think. 200+ would be a GP bike....or a Factory spec WSB ZX-10.....
LOL, no that wasn't a typo, it was on my H2 which is pictured below.
You saw on my video where the sportbikes passed me on that long straight.. in this video below these are the same guys I'm passing on my bike and I always hit a GPS reading of 203 to 204 on that same stretch of road. Have a look at this video 19 sec in:

So did you get a tune to remove the speed limiter? I though bikes have been neutered not to exceed 186 or so, willingly by the manufactures, as not to get insurance companies worked up. The fastest stock bike off a showroom floor, with no mods, was the Busa back in.....1998 or so? But hitting 200, that’s fast. I almost got a H2 instead of my Panni last year. Quite a few H2 are unsold and good deals were to be had. Now that you got me thinking about it maybe I’ll get one when I retire and get a house with a big garage for lots of bikes.

You guys are talking about bikes. I'd love to buy one but I promised the wife that I wouldn't get a bike if I got the shelby. :\

Yeah I have $56k into this bike, it's modded.

I know what you mean. When I bought the Shelby I had to agree not to mod my R6 trackbike, it's still bone stock (other than the flash).
Way worth it to have the Shelby.

Wow, total rebuild with forged internals? More displacement supercharger? Ti Valve springs?

For now I can only fit 1 car and 1 bike in my garage condo space, BUT when I retire...its full garage with two point lift and big-ass air compressor tank too.
