All Voodoo engines are the same regardless of R vs non R.

 

What happened that you had to get a new engine?

 

Just needed some new parts that Ford couldn't source so they replaced the engine.

 

I'm surprised they are still building voodoos.

 

Last I heard, they had about 44 on back order. I have a gen 2 that had a faulty block and got it replaced 3-4 months back. They only had 13 in stock so they do manufacture them to keep up with warranty issues.

 

I don think they are making them anymore. The plant where they were build was closed a while ago. Surely they are just pulling from stock.

 

They are actually making them in limited quantities. They have around 10+ on the shelf but 40+ on back order. This was as of a few months ago. Next few years should be interesting.

 

Mine was just replaced with a build date of April 24th 2024. Only a couple weeks before mine was ordered, so I don't know about all this backorder stuff. Arrived at the dealer within a week.

The new label shows it was built in Dearborn, only said "5.2 GT350" on it, and I'm not sure there is a way to decode the new label to figure out if it was an R engine. Can find more info here.

 

My 2019 had an engine replacement last Oct. The engine was built at the Dearborn plant, which is where they are now building the replacement engines.
I was on vacation in Charlotte, NC when the engine went. The dealer I found was well versed in working on these cars. They had a specialist there who worked on all the Mustang cars. They received a new engine in 2 days, and had it installed in about 2-3 days.
So there are plenty of replacement engines available for these cars. They are just now being built in the Dearborn plant.
