A recent GT350 was sold for $115,000 in Kissimmeee, Florida, which is more than double MSRP ($55,000).
The demand for the Mustang has skyrocketed, as only there were only 100 GT350s and 37 GT350Rs built in 2015. This particular GT350, sold at an auction, had a racing stripe down the middle of its blue body, and had the Track Pack option installed as well. There are only three of its kind.
This incident is not isolated. There is a 2015 GT350 priced at $149,500 in East Rochester, NY, and an unbuilt 2016 GT350R is asking for $175,000. There are at least 3 other models going for over $100,000.
It looks like less than 6,000 GT350s will be built in 2016.
A Ford spokesman told Fox.com that FoMoCo recommends dealers set their price at MSRP, but the dealers can do what they please. To entice the dealers to stick to the low price, Ford will give a GT350 to dealers that sell 3 GT350s.
As these Mustangs are being built in Australia for the first time in history, they are having to deal with a similar problem. Many of the GT350s have asking prices in excess of $30,000 over MSRP.
