carbon fiber repair

Hello:
I have a small 1/4-1/2 inch chunk out of the C/F splitter on my "R" spec 350. Has anyone attempted to repair their splitter?

Aftermarket splitter??

The OEM factory splitters are pressure formed ABS plastic on both the GT350 and R, not carbon fiber materials.
You can try PVC/ABS cement to patch an area, but that would most likely require painting to finish and make it look original.
There are resin kits for repairing C/F parts, if it is an aftermarket piece. That would also require painting to get the cosmetics correct.
Dave, thanks for the info. Judging from the price, I thought the splitter must be carbon fiber. I am aware of the repair kits, but was concerned with the color match. However, I agree, it looks like painting is the only way to get it cosmetically correct after a repair.

I have seen (on eBay) people selling new splitters at around $500. Repair and paint would probably exceed that. I recommend you buy a new one along with some Splitter savers. Only install it after you bang up the old one a few more times, it will happen.

Hi Jim;
I too have seen GT 350 splitters on line. They are reasonable, but my car is an "R" spec and the best price I can find is $1350. I ordered one as a spare (did the same years ago for my GT 500, glad I did), but repaired the original with JB Weld. After a light sanding and touch up with (don't laugh) a sharpie, followed by a polishing with black wax, the spot is not noticeable. I already have splitter savers and they help, but this nick (about 3/8 inch) was caused by something head on.
Thanks for all the help guys! Love this site!
