Battery

Got a bonehead question. I went out to start my car tonight and the battery was dead. Since I had a dress shirt on (and it was dark outside), I didn't want to get dirty by removing the rubber battery cover, so I thought I could do a quick jump start with another car by using the convenient connecting points. After looking for them without success, I went to the Owners Manual and page 191 & 192 were a waste. Any help (pictures welcome!)?
