I'm interested in replacing my stock 289 hipo stock cam with a bit more of a performance-oriented solid lifter cam. I do not track the car, simply looking for more performance and corresponding sound at idle. Suggestions? Thank you in advance.

Are you aware that the stock 1966 HiPo 289 ford engine has a solid lifter cam?

Yes; I currently have a stock HiPo with the stock solid lifter cam. I'm researching to see if anyone has had a good experience replacing the stock cam with a bit more of a performance cam (e.g. Le Mans). Interested in what they purchased and the characteristics they experienced over a stock HiPo cam.
