    Hood Pins?

Has anyone added the Quick Latch Pop Up Hood Pins to their GT350 or GT350R? It's next on my list but with a Carbon Fiber Hood, that's painted Lightning Blue with Painted Red
Pin Stripes and cleared to show the stripe in Real CF.

Wondering if anyone has done this here? It's at the paint shop now waiting for one of the guys to be brave enough to drill into a $2000 hood - LOL

I too have been considering hood pins, mainly due to necessity. Running Daytona HPDE events at speed results in quite a bit of buffeting of the hood - to the point where am real concerned the latch may not hold. The best solution would be to either pin the stock hood or get an Anderson CF version and add the pins. I'm not eager to cut on the stock hood and the CF option is pricey at around $3k. So... am going with option 3 - applying track armor temporary wrap protection to the hood/fender seams to add some stability there. I have already closed the air box to prevent hot engine compartment air from entering- as the hood easily loses the seal at higher speeds.

Am hoping the CF hood price comes down soon to the GT range (~$1k) and will then go that route.

I just got the car back and need to make some stainless sleeves so the CF Radiator support doesn't crush - I think after a little tooling, it will fit perfectly -

After the blower was installed and tuned, I taped my hood for a high-speed run for that same reason -

This Carbon Fiber hood looks awesome and now I am waiting for the stripes to be re-done -I have 4 samples of 3D to 7D Carbon Fiber Gloss wrap and hope one matches - just waiting for a sunny day

I will have soon, making a 26-degree billet washer to compensate the pitch of the pin to hood requirements - The Quick Latch is a great concept and had they thought ahead they could have sold these beveled washers (at very little cost) with the kit vs. me having to see a machinist and start calculating angles to enjoy an engineering bill for $120

    Quick-Latch on a 2018

they just hand this to you for $300

what they don't do right for a 2018 is

    1) need a spacer so you don't crush you radiator support -
    2) need a half Nut
    3) need a degree'd washer to get the pin angled
    4) need a 1.25 inch shorter pin bolt for the passenger side (because it will rub against the AC line and cause a leak)

so until they up their game - you will need a friend that is a machinist that can cut your pin down, your nuts down by half, and create a beveled shim - without these - you will be forced to place the Pins in the wrong place -

Would you have a picture of "3) need a degree'd washer to get the pin angled"

    or spec of it?

    thanks

Its 12 degrees but can be rotated so you get exactly the dial-in you need. This allows me to use the OEM area of placement and supply the look I was after. Hope this helps -should get the CF Stripng this week
