    Differential slipping

    When I pull into my driveway with the wheels turned sharply, the differential seems to disengage then reengage. The driveway has enough of an incline to scrape the splitter, so I have to come in at a sharp 45.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Nothing like that so far. Don't know much about the Torsen diff, but in the old days what you describe would sound like common low speed behavior for a Posi-Trac unit. At parking lot speeds they would become 'jerky' during tight turns, while the clutch packs in the diff slipped and then re-engaged. There was a special kind of lube required to smooth the action of those clutch packs. Again, I don't know much about the Torsen units. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

    Are you sure your back tire is not just coming off the ground, the suspension is stiffer than normal Mustangs. Mine will do it pulling out of a donut shop here in town.

    Did some research into the Torsen diff. No clutch packs, so that's not the cause. For what it's worth, I'm impressed with the design. Some very creative thought went into it.

    Your base number 4947 is your clutch kit, we usually only see problems in the truck. I believe he just has a tire coming off the ground for a second and he's feeling in spin then catch.

    Not very expensive for the clutches, especially compared to a differential.

    My driveway is also steep so I have to come in at a sharp 45 degree angle as well, and yes I do experience a mechanical "humming" sound coming from the rear right side of the car and I'm not sure what it is, but I'm thinking maybe it's the differential as well, or possibly the suspension. I turn right into my driveway, so the right front wheel goes up the driveway first, so I'm thinking the rear right wheel may be lifting off the ground a bit and losing some traction, like what Elean0r mentioned. Good to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this, I search the forums here and there and will report back if I find anything.

    Mine also exhibits the same trait when entering a steep driveway at an angle. I'm sure it's merely a rear tire lifting of the ground due to the stiff suspension.

    Mine too, both my GT350 and Carrera 911 S will lift a rear tire due to the stiff suspension...

    I dont have a issue with that but I will say this : one of the better differentials I have seen.

    I do mostly street driving and I admit I drive the car spirited, Ive only had the car rotate out twice ... nothing that I couldnt handle
