    Ceramic Coating on Wheels

Last night we did the final step in paint protection for my car which was applying a ceramic coating to the rims, calipers, and exhaust tips.
I wanted this process for protecting the paint finish but I was pleasantly surprised by the deep gloss finish it brought to the paint, it's much more vibrant than before.
I plan to repeat this coating process in a couple years.

Jim...ceramic coatings are the latest “wax” craze/technology, except it’s more than just a craze. They are legit; as long as you get something from a mainstream detail co. It is a LSP (last step protection) that creates a hard, glass/ceramic like shell over the surface. Extremely durable and long lasting compare to wax. With a little maintenance, coatings can last for years. Does it make the wheels easier to clean? Abso-f&#@ing-loutely.

Anything to minimize the time in the cleaning department. Spend 3 to 4 times the time doing the wheels over the rest of the car! I feel bad if I’m not at least wiping them down every couple days.

Same here. I completely dust/detail my wheels after just about every drive. Can’t wait for EBC’s Red pads to hit the street...I’ll be swapping.

The brand is Kamikaze Kamikaze Miyabi Coat | Esoteric Car Care
Yeah I'm really happy to have this process done while the rims are still brand new, it will go a long ways towards keeping them looking that way.
I live in San Diego, but if I lived in a cold-weather environment it would be even more important to keep that crap off that they put down to deal with the snow.

oh and 1 other note: if you have $$$$ burning a hole in your pocket..ceramic coating can also be applied to clear bra wraps for even more protection.
Clear bras come with a coating of protection (somewhat from what I understand) but if you apply the ceramic coating it is even better.
Just had the full-car wrap and I was quoted $750 from the detail guy to add the ceramic coating while the care was still there.
If I had come back months later he said the price would be double because they would have to prep the clear bra before applying the ceramic coating.
Price sound high to me and to my detail guy who applied the ceramic coating to my rims.
In any case I opted not to get the ceramic coating added to my clear bra because my car will not be exposed to the elements very much and I take such care with the detailing.
If it was my daily driver and I parked outside during the day or I drove it in cold-weather states then I would consider it.

$750 + is pretty legit for ceramic coating if that includes full paint prep.

No it doesn't include any paint prep.
That was just to apply the ceramic coating directly to the fresh install of the clear bra on the entire car, no further prep need.

Looks great and I must admit keeping the wheels looking "fresh" is a never ending task! Question in the calipers and exhaust tips, is the ceramic coating fairly heat resistant? I've been trying to find a more permanent solution to easier wheel maintenance and this just may be it. What are we talking (price) for the wheels?

thx and looks great by the way!!
