    Saddest Day...

Well I thought I’d share some pics from last night. Was rear-ended by a tundra that didn’t even touch the brakes. Little sore, ALOT sad, but I’m thankful my kids weren’t with me, and nobody got hurt.

Wow! hopefully insurance company will let you take it to a very reputable body shop to put your baby back together good as new.

Wowww! Glad you are alright and no one was in the backseat. What a hit.

Make sure you get your diminished value check and treat yourself with it!

Insurance company came back with over $26k in repairs...just from a visual. Anyone know of a good body shop in the Bay Area?

Well, I have to admit, I had to look up “diminished value”. But thank you Z, I’m sure i would have never known about it without your advice.

Wow, just sad! Part of me would want it to get totaled. So the at fault party pays out for a new one. Not that they will cover the actual replacement value, but somehow I can't see getting a check for diminished value. Just my opinion. Seriously, good luck. I paid a private company to give me an estimate of the diminished value of my Roush 427R when I was hit on the front passenger side. I submitted the paper work and the insurance company refused because the VIN said it was just a Mustang. The estimated damage was only 5-6 grand, in the end it ended up over 10 grand because they had to use Roush parts. I know our VIN shows Shelby GT350, so that should hopefully help your cause.

The insurance premiums sure don’t reflect the notion that they’re “just a mustang”. Insurance companies. Geez.

Finally got a call back from the shop, they can’t do the work due to a lack of certain equipment, so it’ll be going to a ford collision specialist. The first shop suggested that there will be as much as $10k - $12k more in repairs and parts...so they’re looking at over $36k and they don’t want to “total” it yet. They sent a full valuation of the car though and it came back at $52k, which was kinda nice. Oh and one more little tidbit....if you look closely at the picture of the rear end, you can see the license plate of the Tundra that hit me. His plate came off inside my bumper haha....
